Ki Purbo Asmoro
Diskusi Dhalang, Benawa, 25 October 2008
On 25 October 2008, a discussion session was conducted at the home of Prof. Rahayu Supanggah in Benawa, from 5-8 pm. This discussion was arranged and funded by The Lontar Foundation as a supplement to their current documentation of Ki Purbo Asmoro's performance styles. The get-together was conducted among a small number of Solonese figures in the pedhalangan world, and was focused around the question:
"What is meant by the term garapan in current performance practice, and what is the history of its development?"
There will be a number of such discussions and interview sessions in the coming months, the results of which will influence the content of the liner notes for Lontar's project.
