Ki Purbo Asmoro
Semarang Collection
In May of 2009, Ki Purbo Asmoro finalized the purchase of a new collection of wayang. This new set is from the 1939-1940 era, and was owned by a wealthy Chinese-Indonesian wayang collector and enthusiast, now passed away, who resided in Semarang. Although from Semarang, the wayang are basically Solo style (not Klatenan and not "pasisir"). The designer and craftsmen of the set are unknown. Although they are basically Solo-style, the set was clearly made to be unique--most of the pieces have distinctive qualities which set them apart, which is why the set was of interest to Ki Purbo Asmoro.

SANGKUNI "klamben"
Not only wearing a top piece of clothing, but black none the less. Ki Purbo debut-ed this piece on 30 May in his performance of Banjaran Sangkuni. He brought this wayang out only for the Pandhawa Dhadhu section of the lakon---Sangkuni all dressed up for his evening as the trickster in the dice game.
other interesting examples from the collection (every piece is interesting, actually.....)
