Ki Purbo Asmoro
SURAN 2010
Every year on malem Minggu Paing in the month of Sura, Ki Purbo Asmoro hosts a wayang at his home in Gebang. This year's took place on January 16th--not malem Minggu Paing, but rather the final day of Sura. The dhalang was Ki Suyati from Eromoko, Wonogiri (chosen for his wonderul humor, his Wonogiri dialect, and his creative "sabetan humor") and the lakon was GATHUTKACA KRAMA. lakon: Begawan Encik Arum
(a carangan from Ngawi in which Janaka retreats into meditation as Begawan Encik Arum, and Anoman disguises as an aggressor who wants to steal Sembadra away, Prabu Winursih. Sembadra herself has fallen gravely ill and Abimanyu goes on a search for what will cure her, which takes him to Begawan Encik Arum in the forest)
